History of the oxalis
Oxalis is actually found all over the world. Except in the polar regions. Originally oxalis comes from South America and South Africa. Oxalis comes from the Greek. Oxis' stands for sharp, for the sharp taste of the leaves and 'halys' for salt, contains sharp sap, or from 'Alis' which stands for acidic. Clover sorrel owes its name to the leaves, which look like clovers and contain oxalic acid. This gives them a slightly sour taste.
